Essential Appointments to Schedule Prior to Your Senior Photoshoot

You deserve to look and feel great on the day of your senior photo session, which is why there are a few appointments you shouldn’t skip in the weeks and days leading up to your shoot.

Planning these appointments ahead of time will also leave you feeling less stressed on the day.

The Hair Appointment

While you can book a hair stylist for the day of your senior session, you also want to do the basics at least a week before your shoot.

During your hair appointment, focus on trimming your hair and touching up your color if you usually get highlights. You don’t want your hair to look dry on the day or for your roots to show – they will stand out in your photos.

This is also not the time to make any drastic changes. Just stick to a style and length that you know and are comfortable with for your shoot.

And if you would like to have longer hair for your session, you can also consider getting extensions. Just make sure that your hairdresser has experience with extensions to ensure they look great.

The Nail Appointment

This appointment is not just for the girls. Guys, you want to make sure your nails look neat on the day of your senior session too.

A mani and a pedi can make all the difference to your photos, particularly if you’re planning to wear open-toe shoes.

In terms of picking colors, rather keep things neutral so that your nails aren’t a distracting feature in your photos.

Keeping your hands and feet moisturized in the days leading up to your session is also highly recommended.

The Skin Appointment

The final appointment you want to book is for your skin. A hydrating facial will ensure your face looks soft and healthy in your photos. You can book this appointment a week before your shoot too.

It’s important to just stick to a basic facial. Extractions and chemical peels will more than likely leave your skin looking red and swollen, which can’t always be covered up with makeup. If anything, you can also request a gentle exfoliation treatment to get rid of dead skin.

And if your salon offers it, ask them to tidy up your brows at the same time. Tweezing is best to avoid redness.

A little pampering in the week leading up to your senior photoshoot will make all the difference to your confidence on the day, so work it into your planning.
