11 Unique Location Ideas to Steal for Your Senior Portraits

The right location can make all the difference to your senior portraits and if you’re just not finding a location you love, here are a few ideas to inspire you – plus, provide you with truly unique portraits that you will want to share far and wide.

  1. Amusement Park.

Shooting at a carnival or in an amusement park gives you the chance to take advantage of all the magical colors and textures – your shoot doesn’t need to be childlike at all to do this. If you have a fun and bold personality, an amusement park could be your ideal senior shoot location.
  2. Vineyard.

Want an outdoor location but don’t love the idea of heading to your local park or shooting in your backyard? A vineyard is a great alternative!
  3. Out on the Water.

Do you have access to a boat? Why not use this as your backdrop? You can either head out on the water or shoot while the boat is docked. You definitely won’t find many other senior shoots that have a boat in the background.
  4. At the Theatre.

If you love the theatre and have access to one, this is another idea for a one-of-a-kind backdrop for your senior photos.
  5. Bookstore or Library.

This dreamy location is perfect for bookworms. Imagine the photos you can take among the rows of books.
  6. Laundromat.

For something really different and quirky, you could always use an old-school laundromat as the setting for your senior portraits. Don’t forget to find a great retro outfit to match.
  7. 50’s Diner.

Think jeans, white t-shirts, bright red lipstick and milkshakes for this location.
  8. A Racetrack.

Got a thing for motorsports and all things speed? Why not head to your local racetrack for your senior photos?
  9. Greenhouse.

Another alternative to the traditional outdoor shoot is a greenhouse or even a botanical garden. Not only is the setting beautiful but it might not be as busy as some other outdoor locations.
  10. College Campus.

You’ve worked hard to get into college so why not use your new college as the backdrop for your photos? It doesn’t even have to be the college that you’re going to. The architecture at most institutions is truly beautiful, making it an ideal location.
  11. A Parking Garage.

If you love the idea of a grungy, city vibe for your senior photos, you could always head to a parking garage in a big city for your shoot.

Now that you have a few new location ideas, you can start discussing them with your photographer. Just don’t forget to get permission for the location that you have in mind.
